From 1955 to 1961, Jiří Anderle studied painting and graphic art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. From 1961 to 1968, he worked at the Black Theatre of Jiri Srnec, with which he travelled the world as a technician and actor. He became internationally renowned in the beginning of the 1980s, when his graphic titled Krutá hora pro člověka (in English – Cruel mountain for a man was in Chicago appointed the most significant graphic work of the eighties. Almost hundred of solo exhibitions around the world and many awards. Work of Jiří Anderle received over 50 awards, including the Medal of Merit the Third Grade in the fields of culture and arts awarded by the President of the Czech Republic (2006). In 2011, the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic grants him the Medal of Artis Bohemiae amicis for the dissemination of the good name of Czech culture. He lives and works in Prague.
