The graphic works of Peter Kľúčík are characterized by baroque scenery and a fantasy environment with rich fauna and flora, both real and mythical. Bizarre creatures often echo absurdity and even irony, with which the author likes to play. At the same time, the artistic handwriting, recognizable from far away, is proof of the author's brilliant drawing skills and the ability to say a lot even on a small surface. Klúčík's works literally draw you into his fantasy world, in which you hardly find an empty space or a free area, while every part is thoroughly elaborated. At first glance, we often catch only a certain part of the work, but the main story and experience comes only with the gradual study of many details.
The exhibition presents well-known graphic cycles (Tauromachia, Map of the World), the author's largest graphic works from the 80s (Daidalos and Ikaros, Bird Power), as well as smaller graphics and ex libris. The rarity of this exhibition is a work from the series Alice in Wonderland, which was lost for years and will be exhibited for the first time. As the author himself said, he tries to draw attention to nature through its "infinite inexhaustible beauty and diversity". However, it is not only the beauty that attracts us to his works, but also the right balance of fun, irony, positive energy and refined artistic technique.
The exhibition was supported by the Slovak Art Fund.
