(*24.4.1962, Poprad, SK) Frantisek Liptak finished his studies at the School of Applied Arts graphics department, in Kosice and the University od Performing Arts, department of scenography, in Bratislava. Since 1986 he has worked in most of Slovak theatres as well as theatres in the Czech Republic and Poland. He is a founder of the Independent theatre company Teatro Tatro. In the last 15 years, he created about 90 stage sceneries and many of them were awarded at home and at foreign festivals.

Since 1991 his work have focused mainly on films. As an architect and a creative artist he participated and cooperated in a significant amount of Slovak films in the 1990s. The Czech Film and Television Academy awarded the film The Garden with a Czech Lion award in 1995.

As a scenographer, he made some successful stagings in Poland: Gulliwer in Bialostok and Turun, Merlin in the Teatr Lody, The Snow Queen in Teatr Opele, Buratino in Warsaw, Naszka klasa, Koziolek Matolek in Teatr na Woli in Warsaw. He devoted himself to painting and illustration. He had number of exhibitions in Slovakia as well as abroad.

Also the film The Kiss of Passion with film director Miroslav Šindelka, Firebird with Vaclav Vorlíček and The Third Miracle and Jánošík with director, Agnieszka Holland. The Czech Film and Television Academy awarded the film The Garden with a Czech Lion award in 1995.
