Exhibition of graphic works from authors - Albín Brunovský and Jiří Anderle...

Anderle and Brunovsky

Back

Albín Brunovský, national artist, painter, graphic artist and author of art designs of Czechoslovak banknotes and postage stamps. A representative of imaginative realism and one of the most famous Slovak artists. Jiří Anderle, painter, graphic artist, collector of African art, currently one of the most prominent Czech artists. Both have presented their works around the world, becoming internationally recognized, and we can say even the leaders of graphic art in their own countries. They were friends, but in their art work everyone found their original and unforgettable way.

The exhibition Anderle & Brunovsky: graphic art was realized thanks to the support of the SPP and financial contribution from the Slovak Arts Council and brings art works from the 1960s to the end of the 90s. Presented are lithography, etching technique and dry needle. However, the complex work of both authors goes beyond free graphics and includes painting, objects (Anderle), or book illustrations. The exhibition can therefore be seen as a sort of insight into the creation of these personalities. You can discover Brunovky's graphic art from the well-known Bella Italia cycle, where you can still feel the influence of his teacher prof. Vincent Hložník, through fantastic imaginary works of the 80s, to the lithography of the last year of his life (1997). Many of Anderle's presented works are part of his familiar cycles such as Comedy (1965-1969), Fragments (1979-1980), Vanitas (1983), Commedia dell'arte (1985). They also include the author's development from ethnic orientation (eg the work of Eggs), through the problems of contemporary existence to lyrical positions and portraits over time, like for example in the Vanitas cycle.

Put together personalities of graphic art such as Anderle and Brunovsky is a great adventure. Not only the the imaginative experience, but also the confrontation of two different worlds, which sometimes disagree on their themes, but combine in their virtuosity.
