(* 1919, Pardubičky při Pardubicích – †1996, Prague, CZ) Ota Janeček was Czech artist who significantly influenced modern Czech painting, sculpture, free graphics and book illustrations. He brought to the post-war art a deep relationship to nature, which was his constant inspiration. In his work from the 1940s we find a reference to Amedeo Modigliani. Ota Janeček was awarded the Marie Majer Award in 1964 and in 1969 the awards of Minister of Culture. In 1985, he was nominated as a merited artist. In addition to painting, a very significant part of his work was graphic creation, especially linocut, lithography and dry needle. Ota Janeček created about 1000 graphics sheets.
