On July 7, 1887, the first of nine children of a poor Jewish family - Moses Segal, known as Marc Chagall, was born in the Belarusian city of Ľozna. Today, his name is inflected at many auctions, where his paintings are sold for several millions. But Chagall's life was far from being colorful, joyful, and poetic as his works.
