(*27. 9. 1937, Prague, CZ) Běla Kolčáková graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, prof. Vlastimil Rada in 1963. After finishing her studies, she comes with her husband Ignác Kolčák and their two sons to his native region – Orava, Dolný Kubín, where she devotes to illustrations and painting. She was awarded the honorable Mention in the competition „The most beautiful Czechoslovak books of 1969“ and Honorable Mention at the IV. International Bienale of Painting in Košice in 1978. Besides her free artistic creation she is also engaged in illustration, collage and she positively markedly stepped into the textile creation, particularly into the technologically demanding process of the figural artprotis. Number of exhibitons in Slovakia and abroad. She lives and works in Bratislava.
Her artistics development reflects subjective feelings described by poetic expression. Her works often depict women portraits, but not with the intention of figural view, on the contrary, she captures the feminine psyche and personality in its complexity. Works of Běla Kolčáková are therefore an insight into the female soul, its mystery, peace and restlessness.
